SnailMailHQ Prohibited Products Policy
Effective date: November 2, 2026
SnailMailHQ (snailmailhq.com) is operated by Gingiber LLC ("SnailMailHQ," "we," "us"). SnailMailHQ is a platform where human artists ("Creators") run snail-mail clubs and shops. Each Creator has their own checkout and their own Stripe account, so each Creator is the seller of what they offer.
This policy explains what Creators may not sell, mail, or offer through SnailMailHQ. It is part of our Terms of Use and the Creator Agreement. If this policy and those documents conflict, the stricter rule applies.
Our scope is simple: original, human-made, non-regulated paper and creative goods (art prints, stationery, letters, stickers, zines, textiles, crafts, jewelry and similar items) and related digital downloads.
1. Human-made only: no AI-generated art or products
Everything you offer must be your own original work, made by a human.
Not allowed: any item, print, design, or download where the core artwork or main visual was generated by a text prompt or an autonomous generative AI model (for example Midjourney, DALL-E, or Stable Diffusion). This includes AI art that was later edited, traced, or printed by a person.
Allowed: normal tools a human uses to make art, including drawing tablets, Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator, scanners, cameras, printers, and AI-assisted editing utilities (noise reduction, background removal, upscaling, color correction, brush stabilization) used only to refine artwork you drew, painted, or otherwise created yourself.
If you're not sure, ask us before you list it.
2. Counterfeit or infringing goods
No fakes, knock-offs, or items that use someone else's art, characters, logos, brands, or trademarks without permission. Fan art of copyrighted characters counts. If you believe your work is being infringed on SnailMailHQ, see our DMCA Policy at snailmailhq.com/dmca.
3. Weapons, explosives, fireworks and ammunition
No firearms, firearm parts, ammunition, knives meant as weapons, explosives, fireworks, or anything designed to hurt people.
4. Drugs and drug paraphernalia
No illegal or prescription drugs, cannabis or THC products, CBD, kratom, vapes, e-cigarettes, or drug paraphernalia.
5. Alcohol and tobacco
No alcohol, tobacco, nicotine products, or related items.
6. Hazardous or unmailable materials
No items that USPS or other carriers restrict or ban, such as flammable liquids, aerosols, loose lithium batteries, compressed gases, corrosives, or toxic substances. Before you mail anything unusual, check your carrier's rules (for USPS, Publication 52). Glitter, wax seals, and normal art supplies are fine as long as they're safely packed.
7. Adult and sexual content
No pornographic or sexually explicit products or content. Payment providers, including Stripe, restrict adult content, and breaking their rules can shut down your payments.
8. Hate, harassment and violence
No products that promote hate, harassment, or violence against people based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or similar characteristics, and nothing that glorifies violence or terrorism.
9. Harm to minors; stolen goods
No content or products that sexualize, exploit, or endanger minors. This is zero tolerance, and we report it to law enforcement. No stolen goods.
10. Live animals, plants and seeds
No live animals or insects. No live plants, seeds, bulbs, or soil. These often break agricultural, import, and customs rules, especially for international mail. (Pressed flowers sealed into art are fine.)
11. Food, supplements and cosmetics
Banned for now. No food, drinks, tea, candy, supplements, cosmetics, skincare, soaps, candles meant for skin, or other consumables or products applied to the body. These carry health, labeling, and safety rules that are outside SnailMailHQ's scope. We may offer a separate program for these later.
12. Gambling, raffles and gift cards
Not allowed: raffles, lotteries, sweepstakes, or any paid chance to win a prize; and gift cards, prepaid cards, or vouchers sold for resale.
Allowed: paid mystery boxes and surprise mail, as long as every buyer receives a product of fair value for what they paid and knows roughly what kind of item is coming (for example, "3 surprise art prints"). The surprise is the fun, not a gamble.
13. Recalled or unsafe items
No items under a government recall, and nothing unsafe for its intended use. Items marketed to children must meet children's product safety rules where you sell them.
Your responsibility as the seller
Because you are the seller, you are responsible for following the laws and carrier rules where you are and where your buyers are, including product safety, labeling, customs, tax, and shipping rules. Something allowed in one country may be banned in another. This list is not every rule that may apply to you.
How we enforce this policy
If we find or are told about an item that breaks this policy, we may, at our discretion and without advance notice:
• remove the item, tier, or listing;
• pause or close your club or shop;
• cancel affected orders and require refunds to buyers; and
• end your account for serious or repeated violations.
Where we can, we'll tell you what happened and why. If you think we got it wrong, email us and we'll take another look.
To report a listing or ask whether an item is allowed, email support@snailmailhq.com. For copyright complaints, use our DMCA Policy at snailmailhq.com/dmca.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. Continuing to sell on SnailMailHQ after a change means you accept the updated policy.
